Most of them are people’s names but where the media outlet has asked us not to reveal the names, the general contact details have been included.
We do try to keep the lists as up to date as possible, however if you find that some ‘bounce back’ and the person has moved on send us an email to updates@handleyourownpr.com.au and we will get the replacement details for you asap!
Finally, we do love to hear of your successes so send us the clipping and we’ll put it on our Facebook page. And drop us a line if you have any questions!
Most of these contacts have been personally approached by us and are ready and waiting to hear your ideas. In a few cases where we have not been able to get in touch with the individual, we have listed the general website and phone number.
Yes, we send an email every quarter to everyone on our database to check their details are correct however, occasionally you will find that your email ‘bounces back’ as the person has moved on. Do let us know if this happens and we can get the replacement name for you. Just forwards them to updates@handleyourownpr.com.au. We have provided the phone number for each contact too, so if they have left or the email is returned and you need the new details urgently, try calling to find out who the new person is and their contact details.
You may find that there is a little bit of overlap between lists. For example, a contact at Marie Claire may appear on the Women’s Magazines list and also the Fashion Magazines list. Unfortunately, this is unavoidable. The lists have been created for targeting specific markets. For instance, the ‘parenting and kids’ section covers parenting websites, magazines and women’s magazines, the ‘news’ section has newspaper contacts for news desks nationally and the ‘Lifestyle’ section has lists for everything from Gardening to Beauty and Fashion to Bridal media.
The lists are set up in a table with the media outlet, contact name, title, email address and phone number.
Yes, we send every single contact on our list regular emails to check their details are correct. You may have noticed, however, that magazines and newspapers are downsizing and many are getting deleted. New blogs and wonderful websites and apps are popping up that have great numbers of followers and they write stories too. We have a mix of all sorts, but we try to stay on top of the changes as much as we can.
Firstly, while we do our best to stay on top of all the changes and moving around, we aren’t perfect. If you can send any emails you get returned on to us at updates@handleyourownpr.com.au, that would be great. We are also happy to give you double the number of contacts that you get back. So if 6 bounce back, we will give you 12 as our way of saying sorry, and also to give you no excuses to stop in your tracks!
We have the name of the journalist or producer, their title, the media outlet they work for, their email and phone number and any notes that they, or we, have included. We don’t include their physical address because we really believe that it is better to contact the person first, and ask them if they would like a sample or if they are interested in the story, rather than sending unsolicited samples out to a number of people who may, or may not use them for a story.
There are a few things you may want to know about our media contacts, so here goes our attempt to answer them all!
